Description/Abstract
The relationship between cohesion and performance has been demonstrated many times. Many factors that are linked to cohesion may also be linked to performance. This study investigates the relationship between cliques and cohesion among intercollegiate soccer teams across the course of a competition season. Through quantitative methods, results showed the number of cliques identified on the women’s team did not differ from the men’s team, and this number did not change over the course of the season or vary by gender. Results also indicated a difference in the relationship between cliques and cohesion between the men’s and women’s teams.
